Dear Glashan parents/guardians:

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year. We are looking forward to welcoming your son/daughter to Glashan this coming Tuesday.

On Tuesday our students will assemble on the yard between 8:30-8:45am. At 8:45 our bell will ring and students will be met by their homeroom teachers.

As we have done the last several years, we will be devoting instructional time during the first few days of school to our annual orientation for both grade seven and eight students. This provides an opportunity for staff to introduce and/or review important topics such as school expectations, code of behavior, digital citizenship, and of course the 6Cs, DL5, and other ideas related to Deep Learning.

Like the start of any school year there are multiple forms to complete. There will be hard copies of school forms coming home on Tuesday if necessary. But we are sending out a separate email called 'Glashan Forms2018' with all the forms attached in advance of Tuesday. We suggest that you print and sign the forms at your earliest convenience and return them to the school with your son/daughter on Tuesday.

Please note that we have made an adjustment to our Off School Property privileges. Effective this year, off school property privileges will be Tuesday through to Friday with all students staying at the school on Mondays. While we still support the many benefits of allowing our students off school property, we also want to provide them with the opportunity to be involved and engaged with school-based activities and events that take place on that day.

Those grade eight students who bring back their signed forms on Wednesday, September 5 will have permission to go off school property during the second nutrition break. Grade seven students' off school property privileges will commence on Thursday, September 6th again for those students who have brought in their forms.

I am also pleased to let you know that the OCDSB has developed an online Media Permission and Acceptable Use of Technology form. Follow the links below to submit these forms:

We are excited about seeing our students on Tuesday and look forward to providing an excellent and very positive school year for each of them.

All for now.
